Montone is in northern Umbria, in
the area that is called “Upper Tiber Valley,” 40 km
from Perugia and at a short distance from Umbertide and Città
di Castello. The main means of communication with the rest of Italy
is the E45 freeway, which runs from Orte to Ravenna. The train reaches
the town through the Central Umbrian Railway, with the station of
Umbertide, and through the National Railway with the stations of
Ponte S. Giovanni and Terontola. There are daily bus connections
with Rome and Florence from Umbertide. The nearby airport of S.
Egidio (40 km away) offers daily connection sto the Linate airport,
near Milan.
