The AmarCorti competition, A UFF’ section dedicated to young Italian filmmakers, returns to the Umbria Film Festival!

After the success of its first edition, at the 25th UFF, San Fedele Theatre (in Montone) will once again be filled with sounds and colors, stories and emotions. Here are the finalists, which will be screened on 8 and 9 July, in the theater hall, starting at 6 pm!

BEING MY MUM
by Jasmine Trinca . 2020. 12’.

On a baking hot day, along the streets of a deserted Rome, a young woman strolls endlessly with her young daughter while carrying a hefty suitcase.

TOTEM
by Nora. 2021. 3’40”.

A free and wild child wanders in a world dominated by nature until he is told to stop by an imposing totem.

DREAM
by Davide Vigore. 2021. 15’.

Pietro has only one dream: to race his horse Dream at the Palio di Buonriposo. His wish, however, is threatened by his father, who prefers to let Peppe, his eldest son, compete. But Pietro does not want to give up the race: the time has come to pass into adulthood.

BIG

Matilde lives in a cramped house on the beach with his grandfather. To make some money, she scours the sand with her metal detector hoping to find something of value. On a cold winter morning, Matilde will discover an object which will change her life forever.

THE MAGONE (MOR – STORY FOR MY MOTHERS)

A dialogue between oneself and one’s knot in the stomach, a surreal dialogue in a suspended space devoid of judgement.

THE TRUE STORY OF THE WORLD’S BIGGEST GAME OF HIDE-AND-SEEK

In Serravalle Langhe, tradition has it that the world’s biggest game of hide-and-seek has been played every year for more than seventy years.

WHILE YOU WERE GONE
by Maurizio Rigatti. 2022. 10’.

Dr Agordo provides home care for the elderly Lorenza, who is now discouraged by her illness and averse to motivation. A piano establishes a strong empathy between the two, which awakens memories and brings out the regrets of a lifetime in a whirlwind of emotions.

 

CHROMOSOME X

During their office break, Rich and his colleagues joke about a new female colleague by commenting on some of her photos with macho allusions and jokes. A pink smoke bomb launched by some feminist protesters enters the office window and hits Rich, who is thus catapulted into a deep and hellish dream.

On Easter day, in a small town in southern Italy, the crown of thorns is stolen from the statue of Christ. It was Saro, the schizophrenic son of Nino and Concetta, convinced that he was the divine reincarnation.

 

MISTAKING IS CREATING

Mario, a lonely and nostalgic man, receives a wrong call in which he is mistaken for a child, so he finds himself listening to a fairy tale by Gianni Rodari. This episode will trigger a series of reflections on his past, fantasy and friendship.
