Synopsis: Thomas, a young German baker, is having an affair with Oren, an Israeli married man who frequently travels to Berlin for business. When Oren dies in a car crash in Israel, Thomas travels to Jerusalem, seeking out answers regarding his death. Under a fabricated identity, Thomas infiltrates into the life of Anat, his lover’s newly widowed wife, who owns a small cafe in downtown Jerusalem. Thomas starts to work for her and bakes German cakes and cookies that bring life to her cafe. Then, one day, Thomas finds himself involved in Anat’s life in a way far beyond his anticipation, and to protect the truth, he will have to stretch his lie to a point of no return.

 

Ofir Raul Graizer is an Israeli film director and video artist. After working for years in different fields ranging from textile to gastronomy, he went to study Film in Sapir College in Sderot, a city in the south of Israel. During his studies, he directed several short films that were screened in numerous festivals and received worldwide acclaim. After his graduation, he co-directed La Discotheque, which was shown in Cannes Directors’ Fortnight and other film festivals. Furthermore, he was accepted to various renown film workshops such as the Nipkow Program, Berinale Talents, Agora Film Market, and more. The Cakemaker is his very first feature film. Currently he lives alternating between his residence in Berlin, Jerusalem, and the region Uckermark in northern Germany, and he teaches Middle Eastern cuisine others, all the while developing his next film projects.
